Staying with local families, travelling in a ricketty old ice cream truck, and surfing big waves in Alaska, Hawaii and California, beet fields in Idaho, wave pools in Nebraska, the Great Lakes in Michigan, and in swamps in New Orleans, the film offers a funny and often insightful view of a modern day America, where fun is what you make it on the day.
